Amur Leopard: The Ghost of the Siberian Forest

The Amur leopard, one of the rarest big cats on Earth, prowls silently through the dense forests of Russia’s Far East. With fewer than 120 individuals left in the wild, this elusive predator is critically endangered. Its thick, golden coat with striking black rosettes not only makes it beautiful but also perfectly camouflages it in the snowy terrain.

In reserves, Amur leopards are closely monitored to ensure their survival. These solitary hunters are known for their incredible agility, leaping over 10 meters to catch prey like deer and hares. Their ability to endure harsh winters and thrive in such a challenging environment is a testament to their resilience.

One famous leopard, named "Luna," captured the hearts of conservationists when she was spotted raising two cubs in a protected reserve. Luna’s success as a mother became a symbol of hope for the species. Her story inspired increased efforts to expand protected areas and reduce human impact on their fragile habitat.
